Breathe Easy Saturday

It has been a little while since I've done a Breathe Easy Saturday, the reason for that is because I have been busy trying to begin my own children's book series. My mother had been pushing the idea with me for a while and even though it isn't the way that I wanted to break into the writing industry, I'll take it. It's actually helping me feel a bit more productive than just sitting at the computer all day searching for internship related to writing or publishing or searching for a job that involves me teaching the kiddies English.

But today, in all honesty, I feel good about what I'm doing. I honestly thought it would feel like a forced project, but it hasn't . . . not in the least bit. Now as I sit staring at the curser blinking at me in the Word document that contains the beginnings of a children's book I can smile and say . .  wow I did that. Anywho, enough with my own happy epiphany. I feel like we need a ah-mazing song in honor of this day. I know a bunch of other people out there are having a WONDERFUL day just like me and even if you aren't music always makes the day better.

So without further ado . . .

Been sleeping under a rock and don't have this Beatles song on your iPod? Add it to your playlist and buy it here: Twist And Shout
Enjoy your Saturday. =)

Book Review Friday!

Pardon my absence, I've been having some crazy technical difficulties in my house involving the lovely computer products (cough *apple* cough) that I use on a daily basis, but now I'm back and onto this week's recommendation.

So this Friday I bring to you a book that I had been wanting to read since I saw it on the new sellers list on the Barnes and Noble website a couple months ago, now I'm anticipating its sequel. If you haven't noticed I have a thing for werewolves, vampires, fairies, fallen angels, ghosts, and anything supernatural that these wonderful authors now days include in the world of young adult romance. This book in particular is about a fallen angel.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick is an amazing story about a fallen angel named Patch and a girl named Nora. Nora isn't really the average high school girl; she is focused on her studies and is pretty much anti-boy (at least in my opinion and a few others). Nora ecounters Patch as her Biology partner while studying sexual reproduction in human beings and is immediately drawn to and repelled by him. Patch isn't your average high school senior, he's confident, mysterious, and hints a bit to the side of danger. Nora isn't sure what it is about Patch that attracts her to him, but as the book progresses she finds it harder and harder to be away from him. In developing a relationship with Patch, Nora finds out things that she never knew existed in the seemingly 'normal' world of Coldwater, Maine that she thought she knew. Because of Patch, Nora also finds out things about herself that she never knew and even why her father was murdered? Who knew talking to Patch would be the best and worst thing Nora ever did? She didn't.

Sound interesting? Patch sound like the ideal bad boy? Nora sound like a different type of heroine? Give it a read, you won't regret it. I know I didn't, I'm thoroughly excited to see what the next book, Crescendo (set to debut September 30, 2010 at B&N, and on debut October 19, 2010 for Amazon) holds for Patch and Nora. Things can only go up from here . . . er, well in Patch's case anyway.

Read this book already? Enjoy it. Let me know what your favorite part about it was? Intend on reading? And want to purchase it? Go here: Hush, Hush . Come back and let me know what you thought.

As always don't forget to follow Becca Fitzpatrick on Twitter @BecFitzpatrick .

Enjoy your Friday!

Inspirational Sundays

Isn't it funny how your day or week can be going wonderfully and then something crazy happens or someone says something offensive to you and it ruins everything? I've been dealing with this lately myself; one thing shouldn't have to do with another but I know that I can't seem to separate that thing from the other.

I've heard of situations like this getting out of hand and not only does it ruin a day, but it seems to go further out of hand and ruin a life. People have stopped living happily due to the negative words said from others or from an event in their lives; one thing shouldn't have to do with another. It sounds like a mantra, something that should be written down and framed somewhere, to remind us that even though this (whatever it is) happened it doesn't have to ruin everything. It seems so over dramatized when you sit down and evaluate your view or reactions to situations, but when you really take a moment before reacting it makes a world of difference.

So if you'll adopt this mantra, I will too and I'll do myself one better . . . I'll try to take a moment to think before I react; I'm sure it'll make my day better and yours too.

"One thing shouldn't have to do with another."
Have a great and restful Sunday.

Breathe Easy Saturday

Here we are again at another Breathe Easy Saturday; pardon my absence with this from last week, but it was a holiday weekend, after all, and I was doing a ton of stuff before we went away to visit family. However, I'm back this week with my ramblings and of course another song to add to your day.

I'm up bright and early on this wonderful Saturday to ramble a bit, as usual - so on to it. So this morning while in the shower (were I do my best thinking, of course) I was thinking about how hectic a week can get and how we can lose sight of the fact that there should always be a day where you are able to just kick back relax, veg out, and not think about overly stressful things for a while. What's the point? You've been stressing all week and if you don't want premature gray hairs, you'll give yourself a break, find something mindless to watch and just enjoy your day NOT thinking about what's been breaking your back all week.

Just my thoughts on things, so take my advice (I think it's pretty great if you ask me) and enjoy yourself today. Whether it be with family, with a significant other, or just going outside to bake in the sun for a bit; whatever floats your boat.

And a song for this stress free day would have to be:

Smile A While . . .

Ever have one of those days? Ever not want to smile? Or better yet can't think of anything to smile about? Yeah, well I'm having one of those weeks. You know, the week that nothing you do ever seems right or nothing ever seems to go your way. Those weeks suck. This week for me sucks and I was really trying my best to find something to smile about and then I remembered that my boyfriend is coming to pay me a visit for a week; so there's something to smile about. I hope you lovies aren't having as terrible a week as I am, this summer hasn't been kind to many so far and I hope today's Smile A While segment will give you something good to add to your day.

So for those of you that need something to smile about or just an uplifting carefree song, here you go:

Have an amazing day.
